    New Student Orientation is an in-person event for new students starting at Washburn Tech. New Student Orientation is required for all new students. During Orientation, Washburn gives information students need to succeed in and outside the classroom, including getting your student ID, activating Washburn accounts, touring classrooms, and what you need to be ready for day one of class.

    Going to college is a big step. Bring someone with you to orientation to support you along the way, whether it is a parent, family, or friend. Orientation is a free event with parking and refreshments provided.

    Students starting classes in spring 2026

    Please select the date you wish to attend an in-person orientation:

    • Wednesday, December 3, 2025 | 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
    • Wednesday, January 7, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    • Wednesday, January 7, 2026 | 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

    If you cannot attend in-person, please select one of dates for online orientation:

    • Monday, December 8, 2025 | 12:00-1:00 p.m.
    • Tuesday, January 6, 2026 | 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

    Students starting in summer or fall 2026

    Orientation dates will be posted at the beginning of 2026 and registration for orientation will open in March 2026.

    To use all of Washburn's online tools and technology, you must first activate your Washburn student account. Washburn uses one login and password for our online tools and technology.

    Desire2Learn: Online platform for classes

    Desire2Learn (D2L)

    Desire2Learn or D2L is our online platform for learning and teaching. You will interact with each of your instructors for classes through D2L, for both in-person and online courses. For each class, you can find your syllabus, upload assignments, view class progress and grades, and find lectures, rubrics, discussion boards or quizzes.

    Washburn Email

    Washburn University is a Microsoft Office 365 school. Office 365 programs are free for faculty, staff, and students and can be installed on up to five devices. Washburn email accounts are used in Microsoft Outlook.
