Date Set for Washburn Tech Fall Open House

September 16, 2019

Topeka, Kan. – Get a first-hand look at hands-on education by attending Washburn Tech’s Fall Open House from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 5724 SW Huntoon. The come-and-go event is an opportunity for prospective students, friends and family to learn about training opportunities that can lead to career opportunities.

To emphasize the workforce need, especially in manufacturing, the Fall Open House includes special programming in support of Manufacturing Day from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in the Washburn Tech Conference Center. This nationwide event, typically celebrated on the first Friday in October, is designed to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Washburn Tech’s event will feature Alejandro Gomez, a plant engineer at Hill’s Pet Nutrition in Topeka, who will talk about Hill’s manufacturing operation and the need for skilled workers.

Both the Open House and Manufacturing Day celebration are free and open to the public. Visitors may arrive at any time during Open House hours and are not required to register for the event, although large groups are encouraged to RSVP to the Washburn Tech Admissions Office at 785.670.2200.
