Students in cabinet and millwork technology designed, built and installed cabinets for a group home at The Villages, which provides an emotionally supportive home for children and youth in need. The project also included the tasks of replacing concrete, constructing a shelter house and building a road and parking area. It’s a hands-on way to give others a hand.
Those students are terrific, and we can’t say enough about the work they do. We’ve enjoyed having them out here, and they’ve done great work for us.
You have to take pride in your work because you're doing it for somebody else. It's nice to have the hands-on experience. Our teacher (Johnny Lemon) treats our class like we're working for a company.
